The Biggest Sin:
To Associate Somethings with Allah
Islam, since Adam (AS) down to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), call believers to believe and
to have faith in Allah[SWT], the One and Only God.
And the teaching of Tawheed is best recorded in Qur'an the story of Luqman and his
beloved son.
Allah Says:
"Behold, Luqman said to his son adminishing him " O my son! Join not in worship
(others) with Allah: for false worship is indeed The highest wrong-doing."
"And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents:in travail upon travail Did
his mother bear him. And in years twain was his weaning: (hear the comand), "Showing
gratitude To me and to thy parents: To me is (thy final) Goal."
" But if they strive To make thee join In worship with Me thing of which thou hast no
knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration),
and follow the way of those who turn to Me: In the end the return of you all is to me...
(Quran, Luqman [31: 12-15])
Then Allah Says:
1. "Say: He is Allah (6296), the One (6297),
2. "Allah, the eternal, Absolute;(6298)
3. "He begtteth not, Nor is He begotten; (6299)
4. "And there is none Like unto Him (6300). (Quran, Al-Ikhlas, 122:1-4)
Meaning that:
(6296) The Nature of Allah is here indicated to us in a few words, such as we can
understand. The qualities of Allah are described in numerous places else where. Here we
are specially taught to avoid the pitfalls into which men and nation have fallen at
various times in trying to understands Allah.
The first thing we have to note is that His nature is so sublime, so far beyond our
limited conceptions, that the best way in which we can relise hin to feel that He is a
personallity,"He"and not are mere abstract conception of philosophy. He is near us; he
cares for us; we owe our existance to Him.
Secondly, He is the One and Only God the only one to Whom worship is due; all otherthings
or beings that we can think of are His creatures and in no way comparable to Him.
Thirdly, He is eternal, without beginning or end, absolute, not limited by time or
place or circumstance, the reality.
Fourthly,we must not think of Him as having a sons or a father. For that would be to
import animal qualities into our conception of Him.
Fifthly,He is not like any other person or thing that we know or can imagine: His
qualities and nature are unique.
(6297) This is to negative the idea of Politheism, a system in which people believe
in gods many and lords many. Such a system is opposed to our truest and profoundest
conceptions of life. For Unity in Design, Unity in the fundamental facts of existence,
proclaim the Unity of the Maker.
(6298)Samad, is defined as "Eternal" and "Absolute". The latter implies: (1) That
Absolute existence can only be predicated of Him;
all other existence is temporal or conditional; (2) that He is dependent on no person
or things, but all persons or things are dependent on Him, thus negativing the idea of
gods and goddesses who ate and drank, wrangled and plotted, depeneded on the gifts of
worshippers, etc.
(6299)This is to negative the Christian idea of the godhead, "the Father", "the only
begotten Son", etc.
(6300)this sum up the whole argument and warns us specially against Anthropomorphism,
the tendency to concieve of Allah after our own pattern, an insidious tendency that creeps
in at all times and among all peoples.

Tawheed and Tawakkal
Tawakkal or Allah reliance is a
stage of religion and a state of progress of the believers. Rather it is the highest
state of those who are near Allah. The knowledge about Allah reliance is very subtle and
the cause of it is that if one looks at the cause and the ingredients of action, he sets
up partnership with Allah.
In other words, if a man believes that anything has got power over the actions of man,
he cannot be counted as a trues monotheist. On the other hand, if the intermediaary cause
are deducted, it is casting aspersion on the Prophet's ways and dishonour on Shari'ah. If
one disbelieves the causes of an action, there is misuse of intellect and as such one is
drowned in the abyss of ignorance, that is the failure to percieve the absolute truth,
ordained in the teaching of Tawheed: Allah the Only One and the omnipotent.
Allah Says:
Two men of those who feared (Allâh and) on whom Allâh had bestowed His Grace [they
wereYûsha' (Joshua) and Kâlab (Caleb)] said: "Assault them through the gate, for when you
are in, victory will be yours, and put your trust in Allâh if you are believers indeed."
[Quran, Al-Mâ'idah 5:23]
"And by the Mercy of Allâh, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and
harshhearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults),
and ask (Allâh's) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you
have taken a decision, put your trust in Allâh, certainly, Allâh loves those who put their
trust (in Him)."
[Quran, Âl-'Imrân 3:159]
Prophet Muhammad [pbuh] was reported to have said:
"I saw all of my followers at the time of pilgrimage. I saw my followers filling up
all plains and mountains. I was asked; Are you satisfied. I said: only 70.000 Muslim will
go to paradise without account even though their numbers are many. He was asked: O
Messenger of Allah, who are they? He said: They are those who do not work looking at good
or bad signs, who do not rely on the spells and charms and rely only on their Lord. The
Companion Okasha stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, pray so that I may be one of
them. The Prophet said: O Allah, make him one of them. Another Companion stood up and
said: Pray so that i may ne one of them. The Prophet said: Okasha kept you behind and went
forward. The Prophet said: If you can rely on Allah with due reliance, He will provide
you with sustenance in such a manner as He provide birds and beasts. They leave their
nest early in the morning and return in the evening filling up their bellies. the Porphet
said: He who return to Allah after cutting off all connections, Allah is suficient for
him in his every action and He provide him from such a source which is beyond his
conception. He who is addicted tp the world, Allah hands him over to the world. The
Prophet said: he who is please in not depending on men should hold fast more to what is
near to Allah than what is near men."
The aforementioned verses and hadith show the merit of self-independency from
anything other then Allah, for onlly by relying on Allah, shall we gain salvation and
bless of Allah, in the world and in the hereafter. However, how many time in our daily
life have we ever placed our selves in the position of complete reliance on Allah? And
how many time have we ever realize and aware that what ever we gain and achieve today are
coming from the grace and blessing of Allah? Are not we supposed to be grateful and
thankful?

Tawheed and Tawakkal
The meaning if iman in the Arabic
language is to "believe" or to hold as true. Islam has expanded on this original meaning
and the meaning if iman in Islamic terminology includes three things:
- Profession of faith with the tongue.
- Conviction of the truth of this profession in the heart.
- Implementation and action on the requirements of this profession with the body and the heart.
Also, in the hadith, the Prophet described iman as "that which is firmly rooted in the heart and confirmed by action".
Another effect of iman is that Allah and His Prophet (sas) become more beloved to the believer than all else.
Iman complete with all of its three components makes the believers the best nation. Those who claim "belief in god" but reject ANY of the messengers of Allah - such as the Jews who rejected both Isa and Muhammad or the Christians who rejected Muhammad - are not believers and it is not lawful for a Muslim to believe them to be so or to refer to them as such.
Allah Says:
"You are the best nation brought forth for mankind. You command what is right and forbid what is wrong and you believe in Allah. If only the People of the Book believed it would be better for them. From them are some believers, but most of them are corrupt."
[Âl-'Imrân 3: 110]
Iman is following the prophets - ALL of the prophets - and not just "belief in god". It is in our interest and for our good and Allah has no need for any of us nor for all of us put together.
Allah Says:
"O mankind, a messenger has come to you with the truth from you Lord so believe that is best for you. If you reject, surely Allah's is all that is in the heavens and the earth and Allah is the Knower, the Wise"
[An-Nisaa 4: 170]
Iman - with its three parts which includes good deeds - brings a good life in this world and reward according to the BEST of one's deeds. The Prophet (sas): "Whoever has his account discussed will be punished." Thus, the great reward of paradise is by Allah's great mercy and generosity and is not commensurate with anyone's good deeds. An entire lifetime of the best possible good deeds could still not equal the reward of Allah's paradise. That is why the Prophet (sas) said: "None of you will enter paradise by his good deeds." In other words, although good deeds (after belief) are indeed the reason for entering paradise, they are not sufficient.
We ask Allah that we may be among the 70,000 about whom the Prophet (sas) said: "...they will entire paradise without any account-taking." Among the attributes of this group as described by the Prophet (sas) is that they practice tawakkul or placing their reliance fully on Allah Most High.
Allah Says:
"Whoever does good deeds - whether male or female - and he is a believer, we will give him a good life and we will grant them their reward according to the best of what they used to do"
[An-Nahl, 16: 97]
Iman not only includes good deeds, it includes ALL good deeds from the largest to the smallest. The Prophet (sas) said: "Iman is seventy-some parts. The least of them is removing something harmful from the road and the highest of them is saying 'Laa ilaha illa Allah'. Bukhari & Muslim
Iman includes submission of everything to Allah Most High, including our desires, our inclinations and what we "think". That is why no man-made system can ever direct society correctly. The Prophet (sas) said: "None of you has believed until his very inclinations are subservient to that with which I have been sent." And,
Allah Says:
"And know that among you is Allah's Messenger. If he were to obey you in many affairs you would experience diffficulty. But Allah has caused you to love iman and has made it something beautiful in your hearts and He has caused you to hate rejection, corruption and disobedience. These are the ones who are guided."
[Al-Hujaraat, 45: 7]
This condition of surrender - of harmony between our desires and inclinations and what Allah loves and hates - is the fullness of iman and what gives the "sweetness". The Prophet (sas) said: "He has tasted the flavor of iman who is accepting of Allah as Lord of Islam as din and of Muhammad as Messenger." Muslim
The truthful believer is the one who, in addition to the above, rids himself of all doubt and commits and dedicates himself to Allah Most High:
[Say: Surely my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.] ..and sacrifices in Allah's path:
Allah Says:
"The believers are none other than those who believe in Allah and His Messenger then have no doubts and fought with their wealth and their lives in the path of Allah. These are the truthful ones."
[Al-Hujaraat 49: 15]
Another effect of true iman is community - caring for one another, advising one another and commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong.
Allah Says:
"By time. Surely man is in loss. Except those who believe, do good deeds and advise one another with the truth and advise one another with patience."
[Surat Al-Asr: 103:1-3]
This comes about by our complete submission - including our loves, our hates and our social relations - to Allah Most High. The Prophet (sas) said:
"Whoever has three things discovers the sweetness of iman: that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than all else, that he love another only for the sake of Allah Most High, and that he hate to return to kufr (disbelief) as he would hate to be thrown into fire." Muslim & Bukhari
