MORE BENEFITS WITH POLYCARBONATE LENSES
![]() |
============================================================
Polycarbonate, a synthetic material, is the toughest optical material developed so far. It is bullet-proof, highly impact-resistant and does not break. Yet it is very light and comfortable to wear, as the density of polycarbonate is only 1.2 (compared to 1.32 for CR 39 plastic and 2.54 for glass). It can also produce thinner lenses. In addition, polycarbonate lenses can be treated with a scratch-resistant coat; tinted from light to dark shade as for sunglasses and incorporated with ultra-violet coatings. They |
| can also be multi-coated to improve the amount
of light reaching the eye as well as to counter reflection from the edge
of the lens and from car headlights in night driving conditions.
Since polycarbonate lenses are thinner, there is a larger selection of frames to choose from, such as rimless, rimlons or large size frames. |
