Nearsightedness It is a vision condition in which near objects are seen clearly but distant objects do not come into proper focus. Nearsightedness happens when the eye-ball is too long or the cornea has too much curvature, light entering the eye is not focused properly. Eye glasses and contact lenses correct the problem by altering the way light images enter your eyes, but the procedure does not cure nearsightedness. |

Technically called hyperopia, it is a vision condition in which distant objects are usually seen clearly but close objects are not brought into proper focus. The farsighted person subconsciously exerts extra effort at close range. Farsightedness can be effectively diagnosed during a complete optometric examination. Your optometrist may recommend glasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy to correct the problem.
