Khalifah Institute

The Khalifah Institute was set up at the beginning of 2004 as a Private Islamic Charitable Trust (having the same rights and legal responsibilities as a foundation). The purpose and goal of the Khalifah Institute is indeed grand, the creation of a fully and truly Islamic world. Although the Khalifah Institute is young, it is based on almost 40 years of research and planning through the lifework of its founder, Prof. Dr. Muhammad al’Mahdi, a dedicated Muslim child psychologist, theoretical physicist, and long time student of Islamic theology.

We believe there are two main issues responsible for the shameful world of today. One fault is that we, the Muslim ummah, have not fully understood and given due consideration to Allah’s purpose in creating the human race to be His Khalifah on Earth. The other fault is that we have failed to heed the advice and warnings of the early pious scholars who told us that Allah has provided us with two books of revelation, the Qur’an and His physical creation, and that we must ‘read’ both these books of revelation in a balance or we will not fully understand the Islamic way of life Allah has in His Mercy given us, and our practice of that right Islamic way of life will go badly.

The Khalifah Institute is attempting to help correct these two faults responsible for the sad and shameful condition of the world today which has lost the beauty, wonder, and reward of living in accord with the rightly understood traditional beliefs and practices of Islam. We do this through training programs and publications which can help our Muslim brothers and sisters understand that as Khalifah of Allah we have received the greatest honour ever bestowed by Allah on His physical creation, and to develop a great love in our hearts for this most majestic role we have been given. We also provide training programs and publications which can let our Muslim brothers and sisters know that modern science, when understood from a correct Islamic perspective, has now indisputably proven that the so-called scientific basis for secular materialistic belief and culture is entirely false, that there now exists a scientific proof of the existence of God based on the universally accepted facts of modern physics, and that we now have a good understanding of the very powerful Laws of Learning, which Allah has provided us with, which can enable us to guide ourselves and our children toward becoming Muslims of excellent character, living rightly in accord with the Islam which Allah gave us as our way of life.

We at the Khalifah Institute are honoured to carry out our responsibility to help bring about a fully and truly Islamic world consistent in every way with the Will of Allah. We believe as Khalifah of Allah we can only succeed in this great task through jihad. We do not accept that jihad means “holy war”, we consider jihad to mean the Holy Struggle, the battle between good and evil. We see jihad in the 21^st century as necessarily being positive jihad. This is to be jihad fought only in the battlefield of the mind with a weapon far more powerful than any sword or bomb. The weapon in this jihad must be knowledge. The Khalifah Institute is working to spread the rightly understood knowledge of traditional Islamic belief and practice combined with logic, reason, and modern scientific knowledge consistent with our Islamic beliefs.
